Lord of the Glens
Overview

Transit the Scottish highlands and explore coastal islands

Life aboard Lord of the Glens feels like a cross between relaxing in a stately country manor and taking a voyage aboard a private yacht with friends. It is the perfect way to explore the Scottish countryside. She is paneled in polished wood, with teak decks, offering gourmet cuisine, and exceptional personal service.

A unique ship for a singular adventure

Lord of the Glens accommodates 48 guests in 26 outside cabins. At 150 feet, she is uniquely sized to fit through the network of locks and canals that cut through the heart of the Scottish highlands - the Caledonian Canal, which connects the North Sea to the Atlantic. And, she can also navigate the coastline and venture to the islands of the Inner Hebrides, making her the only vessel that can cut across the country and explore islands in the Atlantic in such grand style.

Lord of the Glens is outfitted with bikes for exploring the Scottish countryside, and there's an opportunity to kayak on Loch Ness. On this Scottish Island cruise, we'll sail through the intricate series of locks known as Neptune's Staircase, where Lord of the Glens is raised or lowered 64 feet in eight locks in the space of 500 yards and herself becomes an attraction as people gather to watch.

Dress is always casual and the general ambience is relaxed and informal. The dining room is wrapped in picture windows, so we're sure to never miss the view.

Breakfast is served buffet style and options abound, including a full Scottish breakfast comprising eggs, bacon, tomatoes, black pudding and toast. There's fresh bread, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts together with coffee and tea. For early morning risers, tea and coffee will be available at the bar. Lunch is most often also served buffet style, while dinner is plated. Whether a meal is buffet-style or served, our gracious waitstaff is ever-present to attend to your every need. In addition, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are available 24 hours a day. Soft drinks are included, and alcoholic beverages are available at an additional charge.

Public spaces perfectly suited to our style of travel

The open top deck is set with tables and chairs, offering an ideal perch to take in the view of the Scottish countryside or see the busy crew at work as we pass through the locks. There are teak decks and warm mahogany finishes throughout. The feeling aboard is as if relaxing in a fine country home.

  • Lounge & bar: The lounge is the heart of our expedition community, and it is divided into two sections: the forward area is called the Sir Walter Scott lounge, a smaller, intimate space to gather with friends. And the aft section is the David Livingstone lounge, which accommodates the entire expedition community at once for briefings and nightly Recap. The bar is located between the two, with beer, bottled wines, cocktails, specialty drinks, spirits, and wine by the glass available for sale.

  • Terraces: Open-air terraces set with tables and chairs offer a unique place to relax on the fore and aft decks.
